Logan County had 21,131 people at the 2020 census, and the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate is 21,633. It has two county seats: Paris for the Northern District and Booneville for the Southern District.

  • Paris, on Highway 22, north of Mount Magazine.
  • Booneville, in the south part of the county on Highway 10.
  • Magazine, at Highways 10 and 109, about seven miles west of the peak.
  • Scranton and Subiaco, east of Paris.
  • Ratcliff, Caulksville, Blue Mountain and Morrison Bluff, the smaller incorporated towns.

New Blaine and Delaware are unincorporated communities in the county.

What's here

Mount Magazine rises to 2,753 feet, the highest point in the state. Mount Magazine State Park has a 60-room lodge near the top.

Subiaco Abbey, a Benedictine monastery founded in 1878, runs Subiaco Academy.

Cove Lake, a 160-acre national forest lake, is nine miles from Paris on Highway 309. Blue Mountain Lake covers about 2,880 acres on the Petit Jean River.

On the Paris square, a 25-foot Eiffel Tower stands in the park named for it.

Schools

Four districts are based in the county: Paris, Booneville, Magazine and Scranton.

District lines out in the county don't always follow the town name on the mailbox, so if a particular school matters to you, check the exact address with the district before you make an offer. I'll help you do that.

The state publishes a report card for every public school at myschoolinfo.arkansas.gov.

Property taxes

A $200,000 home inside Paris city limits is assessed at $40,000 (20% of value). At 50.9 mills (a mill is $1 per $1,000 of assessed value) that is $2,036 a year before credits, and $1,436 after the $600 homestead credit for a primary residence. Those are 2025 rates, billed in 2026.

Booneville runs slightly higher than Paris, and Magazine and Scranton slightly lower. The full table, the homestead credit and what changes when a home sells are on my property tax page.

I'm a Realtor, not a tax advisor. Confirm any parcel with the county assessor before you rely on a number.
